Buenos Aires Home with an Unbeatable View: Casa Negra, Andres Remy




Approximately 30 kilometers from Buenos Aires, Argentina, is Casa Negra — or “the black house” — tucked into a gated neighborhood and a beautiful natural setting next to a lake, one of which the owners wanted to take full advantage. Enter Andres Remy Architects , who were given full responsibility and free rein in designing and setting the dwelling. The architects explain, “The best views of the lake were at the back of the lot, while the best orientation was at the front.” In light of this, they divided the house into two parts. On the lower floor, one side holds the “common” areas, such as kitchen and dining room; the other has a sunken living room, reachable by crossing a glass bridge. What does that bridge cover? A surprise in the midst of the house: a shallow pool!



The pool helps integrate indirect light through a northern exposure, providing illumination and a serene ambience. Indoor/outdoor living is easy with these open, accessible areas, along with sliding glass
