California Cool in Vivid Color: Fisher Street by Chris Barrett Design




If at first glance this Fisher Street Residence by Chris Barrett Design makes you feel as if you’ve walked into a delightful retro movie set…you’re not alone. The Barrett site refers to its “…casual sophistication, drawing influence from Frank Sinatra to the surf culture of Manhattan Beach.” It’s an apt description: although the home isn’t actually on the beach, it still projects a breezy, almost barefoot ambience by means of several key style notes. One of these, of course, is color. Lime green and turquoise balcony chairs are a great counterpoint to tangerine loungers at ground level. Corals, lemony yellows, and seafoam blues all play a part: on pillows, throws, bedding, and seat cushions in the laid-back living room. And then there’s the stunning mustard yellow that “shouldn’t” work in a study/den…but does.
