Our hair is our crowning glory and while our hair brushes are doing their job in shining our hair and turning it as silk as cocoon, we may forget to return the favor. We comb our hair to get rid of dirt and dust that build up and yet we forget to perform hair brush cleaning. While cleaning our hair brush seems to be an easy task, we usually neglect this duty resulting dirty hair and hair product build up. Eekk! Gross.
Brushes should be cleaned as they accumulate dirt in your scalp just like comb. However, unlike combs, brushes can be challenging to clean due to its bristles and forms. Removing Hair
Hair brushes catch hair more than combs do that is why it’s always a dilemma to remove accumulated hair in the brush. Round styling hair brush is difficult to clean because of it gather more hair than usual. If you have been postponing your hair brush cleaning, then chances are, you would surely have a thick mass of hair stuck in your brush. Stuck mass of hair are easy to remove on some fingers using fingers alone yet boar bristle hair brushes may need toothpick to clean up the mess. To be sure, you can use comb to clean your brush.
Washing Hair Brush
Dip your hairbrush in warm or tap water with soap. There are some brushes that do not require dipping in the water as it may ruin the brush itself. So before washing your hair brush, make sure to check you brush whether it is okay to submerge it in the water or not. Because brushes with air-filled cushions are not encouraged to be dipped in the water as the water may go through in the cushion.
How to clean hair brushes with vinegar
You can also wash your hair brush with vinegar to remove grime dirt deposited in the hair brush. Now for you to know on how to clean hair brushes with baking soda, you will just have to add a cup of baking soda in the water and soak the hair brush and that’s it. You can also do a bleach soak with your hair brush. But if you are wondering on how to clean hair brushes with ammonia, you will just have to soak it with a mixture of one part ammonia to four parts water. Hot water is ideal to use for soaking but make sure that it is not too hot to melt your hairbrush ok?
Now rinse off your hair brush with a good amount of tap water. You do not want your hair to smell of ammonia, vinegar or baking soda. Do you? To dry your brush, use a paper towel for hair brushes with metal or plastic handles while wood handles work best with towel to prevent it from damaging. Then let your hairbrush stand where its bristles are exposed to air to dry up easily.
Cleaning your hair brush does not only keep your hair clean but it also contributes to its longevity. Besides, it is such a turn off to have a pretty lady to have a dirty hair brush right?
