While we are still high on the recently concluded spring 2012 fashion week held at different key places, Vera Wang gave us a taste of her pink wedding dresses for fall 2014. Although the collection is a year earlier than we expect, we cannot help but get excited as Vera snubbed the traditional white-colored wedding gowns and opted for pink instead.
In 2012, Margherita Missoni, Anne Hathaway and Mrs. Justin Timberlake went against the flow as they tied the knot in their pink wedding gowns. Vera might have noticed how spectacular and very feminine pink is that wedding dresses for fall 2014 range from peony to coral.
We already knew how versatile Vera is when it comes to her fashion styles that her wedding collection for fall of next year came as no brainer. We have seen her spring 2014 bridal collection and we can conclude that her fall 2014 wedding gowns are cut from different slack.
The Vera Wang fall 2014 wedding dresses had the classic films “Funny Face” and “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” as inspirations. While wedding gowns are not entirely white, color pink is usually reserved for the bridesmaids dresses. Yet, Vera challenged that norm. She dared those blushing brides to adapt pink as their wedding gown and walk down ethereally and beautifully down the aisle. . “Pink as sensual, pink as seductive, pink as dreamy, pink as sophisticated, pink as strong, pink as cool,” Wang’s Fashion house explained.
Vera worked with complicated rose-colored appliques and elaborate vermicelli beading in slinky silhouettes. The collection also features Chantilly lace, pleated details, and soft organza layers to accent the immaculate and innocent allure of the collection. Quite obviously, the collection has a penchant for princess style strapless gowns despite the mermaid style gowns quite grabs the attention. It is petal strapless silk mermaid gown that has organic flower detail highlighted by tulle and cascading organza flanges. Meanwhile, the peony strapless faille ball draped bodice and coral flower beaded embroidery closed the event.
Vera also looked to the famous pin up girl, Marilyn Monroe’s Schiaparellipink gown in the Gentlemen Prefer Blondes as her inspiration. Although luxury labels like Versace, Chanel, and Elie Saab showed a collection in flesh color during the couture runway shows in Paris just this spring, Vera was inspired to a more powerful pink fall 2014 RTW as seen in the runways in February. These were the pink dresses and tailored coats that were seen at Carven, Moschino and Prada. This shade immediately becomes Fall well-loved color.
Vera even encouraged to ‘Think pink and the irony of pink and all those shades for winter,’ as she aimed to turn heads in her collection. Apart from Anne, Jessica and Margherita, Gwen Stefani also rocked a pink and white dress during her wedding with Gaven Rossdale back in 2002. Reese Witherspoon also ditched white as she walked down the aisle in her petal pink Monique Lhuillier dress as she wedded Jim Toth.
While pink is quite exciting, wedding specialists suggest that brides should be careful in choosing their motif. Just always think how you wanted to look in your photo albums and videos.
